R&D Linux Software Developer - Software Designer
The Linux R&D software engineer is responsible for software designing and implementation of the next generation of Linux Thin Clients for Hewlett Packard. As part of the technical development team, the candidate will be also need to plan, design and implement based on requirement specification. Ability to execute the plan in timely manner and with good quality is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
To develop and own subject matter expertise of technologies in Thin Clients
Design, develop and execute development plans for projects which include reviewing product requirements and analysis, test plans and test cases, monitoring and analyzing test results
Delivering high quality product, software and user experience
Identify and communicate issues/risks identified to the management
Collaborate with virtual team spread across the globe to achieve the set objectives
Share knowledge with the technical support organizations across the globe
Duties:
Candidate will work as a individual contributor in a geographically diverse software development team. Candidate will architect and design modifications and additions to existing embedded operating systems and applications and help establish and evolve software requirements. Candidate will be capable of identifying new areas of development to meet expected customer demands and will be able to design and implement robust solutions to meet those needs.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent subject
Candidates with 5 years and more is preferred
Knoweldge & Skills
Strong demonstrable development experience/expertise in one or more of the following technologies is desirable:
Linux application development
Ubuntu LTS distribution and packaging tools
C / C++ programming language
Data structures and Algorithms
Linux scripting language
Virtualization technologies (VDI)
Working knowledge of software engineering best practices and software life cycle.
Familiarity with Thin Clients, Citrix, or Windows Terminal Services preferred, but not a must require.
Passion for learning new and emerging technologies
Strong troubleshooting skills and a proven self-starter and self-motivated
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to excel in a fast-paced environment
Strong ability to comprehend the big picture of product design approaches, ability to join dots from problem to the root cause
Excellent written and oral communications skills
