Job Description :
The Application Support Engineer will be a part of a software development team that develops highly configurable platform based software for Fortune 500 companies. The development teams work in a higly collaborative mode operating across different countries/timezones using the Agile Development methodology. This position is responsible for managing the set-up of build, release and demo environments. The Application Support Engineer works with Development and QA teams to plan & set-up of environments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Understand the capabilities and functionality of the DataCert platform and products.
Design and develop modifications and enhancements to Build tools
Be responsible and manage build, release and demo environments
Working on virtual machine infrastructure in setting up environments
Additional Responsibilities:
Be responsible for managing database / application backups
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Bachelors degree required, preferably in Computer Science , MIS, Engineering or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 4 6 Years experience in Software Development understanding the complete SDLC cyle primarily with Java
Minimum of 3 Years experience working with SQL Server or Oracle is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience of build tools like ant/nant, maven etc and Continuous Integration tools like Hudson
Successful experience working as part of a team, preferably in an environment governed by an agile development methodology such as XP, Scrum, or the UP
Experience with an object-oriented scripting language such as Python, Ruby, EcmaScript or Groovy a plus
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Creative, innovative, results focused, self starter
Strong Problem Solving skills and the ability to be innovative under pressure
Strong debugging skills
Strong working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming Paradigm using C++ or Java.
Web development experience, HTML, JavaScript and Java server-side technologies (J2EE)
An understanding of XML, XSLT, XSD/DTDs
HTML, Java Script, CSS working knowledge is preferred.
Mixed front and back end skills will be an added advantage.
A good working knowledge of configuration managemement tools.
Ability to work in a fast paced challenging environment
Effective Time Management skills
Should be able to work with multiple teams effectively both internal and external and demonstrate accountability
Excellent Communication skills both verbal and written.
Prior working knowledge with VMWare Tools
