JOB OVERALL PURPOSE
In this tough economy most clients are looking for an edge over their competitors and dunnhumby is that edge, where others are struggling, we are thriving. To cope with recent rapid expansion, Core Data is looking for multiple resources that fit our technical profile, have 3+ years relevant work experience and most importantly have great communication and soft skills.
A typical day will involve using SAS and SAS DI to write tools, processes and solve problems. We use multiple other tools including Unix scripts and Cronacle for automation and are migrating our product towards SAND technology for dramatic end user performance improvements. Depending on experience, responsibilities can also include client communication, requirements gathering and associated documentation and design. We will give every employee as much responsibility as they prove they can handle, and their career and worth to dunnhumby will increase at the same rate.
The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal guidance and will have a strong sense of ownership to get his and his teams responsibilities delivered to agreed timescales, providing relevant, unsolicited progress updates to all key stakeholders.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Essential
Excellent written and verbal communications
Advanced SAS developer on a Linux platform (3 yrs minimum)
SAS/ETL or other ETL tool (Informatica) development experience.
Skilled in all aspects of the full software development lifecycle including supporting documentation.
UNIX/Linux shell programming experience
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation
Experience with high volume Data Warehousing systems, related appreciation of data management/tuning and design issues (3 yrs minimum)
Bachelor degree preferably in a computer related field
Ability to challenge both content of data and the processes surrounding it
Confidence in Training/Presenting to peers.
Desirable
Scheduling package experience such as Cronacle
SAS Base programmer/SAS Advanced programmer Certification
Experience in system design and database modelling skills
Leadership experience including performance and career management
