Title: Associate Software Engineer Location: Sun City, Gurgaon, India Grade: 7
Position Summary
The incumbent will be part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization responsible for applications supporting the NCR Data Center Operations. This position is responsible for providing solution development and third level support for applications running on UNIX and utilizes an Oracle Database. Candidate will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the monitoring tools and processes with a requirement of on call/off hours support. Works closely with Server and Network Operations group to develop, test, implement and maintain active server and network monitoring and perform metrics gathering and reporting. The role requires both UNIX and Oracle DB management skills. In addition, the person should have basic programming skills, be able to write Perl & Shell scripts, well written and good verbal communication skills. The role requires a technically strong individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both Application Development and Business Development.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Requirements Development - Ability to work with team members to document their business requirements. Negotiate with the requestors to align their requests in support of the overall ITS program objectives and architecture.
• Development/Support - Experience working in UNIX/Lunix/Solaris/AIX environment with administration, Shell/Perl scripting, C, Oracle Pro*C, TCL/Expect. Working knowledge of databases (Oracle/SQL Server) with SQL/SQL*PLUS
• Strong communication skills - Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups (i.e. organizes communication; adjusts to audience; ensures understanding; comprehends communication from others.)
• Adaptability/Flexibility - Demonstrates the ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when encountering changes in the workplace. (i.e. Seeks to understand changes; maintains positive attitude when dealing with change; makes appropriate behavioral adjustments when needed.)
• Initiates Action - Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives; takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required; is proactive. (i.e. Responds quickly; takes independent action; goes above and beyond) Basic Requirements
• BS/BA in Computer Science or MIS
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience with UNIX scripting (Perl/Shell/VBScript), C, Oracle Pro*C, SQL Loader, TCL/Expect
• Strong UNIX System Administration Skills (Linux, Solaris, AIX)
• Experience in the software and fix pack installations, configurations, and support of third party applications on a UNIX server
• Experience with databases (Oracle/SQL Server), SQL/SQL*PLUS
• Maintain scripts for reporting and their distribution lists.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Self motivated Preferred Requirements
• Control-M administration.
• Install, configure, and support BMC Control-M Environment
