Job Description :
Core Responsibilities: key regular activities of the job
Work effectively with the business to clarify their requirements in the context of what our data can support. Define analytical deliverables addressing the business needs.
Ensure that requirements for the analytical tasks are well defined and understood, lead informed discussions about requirements that are not well supported by current data structures and recommend alternatives.
Drive successful delivery of the projects including the presentation and interpretation of the results to senior EU management in order to highlight actionable insights into the relevant business drivers.
Develop a deep understanding of eBay’s business to ensure that analytics approaches are as robust and efficient as possible.
Become a subject matter expert on the data related to the specific initiatives supported.
Extract, analyse and collate data from a variety of sources to create both regular and ad hoc analyses and reports.
Leverage a deep understanding of the tools and techniques available to efficiently extract and process huge amounts of data (e.g. SQL tuning, DB design, macros, etc).
Job Requirements
Experience, Qualifications & Personal Characteristics required:
3+ years in an analytics/reporting role
1+ years of classic or online retail experience
Undergraduate degree, preferably in a quantitative field.
Very strong communication skills with the ability to present complex analyses and data issues clearly and concisely to a non-technical audience.
Proven ability to leverage analytics techniques to answer business questions and drive results.
Proven ability in clearly defining a problem, collating the required information, analysing the results and synthesising a compelling argument.
Strong foundation in SQL and relational database technology. Teradata is the database in use but strong experience on other platforms (e.g. Oracle, DB2, MSSQL) is also acceptable.
Knowledge of statistical methods and data mining essentials is a distinct bonus.
Experience with SAS is a distinct bonus.
Experience with leading a team is an advantage.
Excellent written and oral English language skills.
