Job Description :
As a Support Engineer, you will work closely with the world wide PDW support team, PDW product group, as well as the escalation teams of the included products such as Windows and SQL Server to deliver a complete Appliance centric model of support. The issues you will be working on in this position are commonly high visibility issues for our customers and are key to mission critical applications. There will be regular opportunities to contribute to the future supportability features of the product and the overall effectiveness of the world wide team.

Key Responsibilities include:
Initial troubleshooting and service request lifecycle management for all cases related to SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse edition
Performing root cause analysis of customer reported issues
Work to build and enhance the PDW knowledge base
Contribute to future supportability features and tools
Work with mainstream GBSD support teams in troubleshooting issues related to Microsoft products (windows, SQL Server, Clustering, etc)

Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline preferred
Experience with a combination of the following MSFT technologies preferred
o SQL Server, Windows Server, Failover Clustering, Hyper-V, T-SQL
Experience with data warehousing design and process concepts preferred
Experience in database optimization and performance tuning preferred
Experience troubleshooting in parallel processing systems preferred
Experience working with remote/virtual teams preferred
Understanding of basic hardware concepts such as RAID, basic networking, hard drive troubleshooting, etc.
Programming experience in C#, .Net, PowerShell
Disaster Recovery planning experience
Solution or appliance based support experience
Ability to communicate complex problems in non-technical terms at various levels within the organization.
English language skills including strong written communication skills required.
Occasional night and weekend on-call work is required.
Travel up to 5% may be required.
